CONGRATULATIONS to RUTH HARCOVITZ, MS VERMONT Senior America 2014!

Ruth Harcovitz is an alum of New England Conservatory with a B. Music in Vocal Performance and graduate study at the Vienna Academy of Music. She maintains a triple career as a singer of classical music, light music, and as a singing teacher.

Ruth  has sung and recorded with the Boston Symphony in Symphony Hall and Carnegie Hall and with opera superstar Beverly Sills. Ruth has sung leads with many opera companies, including the Santa Fe (NM) Opera, Artists Internationale,and Opera New England.

Active as a classical recitalist, she has concertized in colleges, museums, libraries, art galleries, and on radio. She sings in French, German, Itaian, Russian, Hebrew, and Yiddish, all of which she has studied. She has been featured as soloist with choral societies and orchestras.

Simultaneously pursuing her fondness for light music, Ruth has sung leads in musical theater and appeared with numerous musical revues, including her own vocal quartet, "Champagne".

She continues to create and star in her own solo shows on various themes, which she presents for community organizations such as libraries, historical societies, senior centers, and women's groups. She recently returned from a successful singing tour in Florida.

Ruth  has taught voice at New England Conservatory, Northeastern University, and the Boston Children's Theater. The author of many published articles on performing, she has her own teaching studio.

Ruth  has served both as Vice President and President of the New England ConservatoryAlumni Association, an international body of 15,000, and mentors students.

The education of youth is important to her as she brings an anti-bullying program, GETTING ALONG WITH OTHERS, based on the social issues addressed in the musicals of Rodgers and Hammerstein, into schools.
