CONGRATULATIONS to ROBIN SHY, Ms. Ohio Senior America 2021!

Robin Shy was born in Toledo, Ohio to a family who was strict on education. Her father is a retired engineer and her mom a retired critical care nurse. Within her family, her grandparents, aunts, and uncles were engineers, teachers, police officers, and nurses. Robin grew up in a musical household, with her father playing concert piano and her mother playing the organ. This sparked a passion for music in her from an early age. She and her four siblings took music lessons at the Toledo Museum of Art, where Robin found interest in the piano, flute, and violin. She also discovered a love for the Toledo Symphony, and in her adult years would attend weekly during the seasons when it was open. The music, for her, was relaxing and would relieve stress.

As a young child, she always helped people in need. If there ever a family in need, she would always reach out to assist them however she could. Robin has a love for helping people through life’s situations, and will continue to assist anyone in need.

Robin worked for the Toledo Fire Department for nine and a half years as a dispatcher. During this time, she pursued a nursing career as a trauma and critical care nurse.

Over the last year, Robin worked in the Intensive Care Unit. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, she cared for and helped many patients and families.
