January 12, 1950 in the small Oklahoma town of Spiro, proud parents, Eugene and Mildred Self welcome their little daughter, Shirley Dean into the world, they were surrounded by maternal grandparents Virgil and Edith Kirkendoll.Shirley grew up and attend Spiro Public Schools through the nineth grade when she moved to Keota, Oklahoma. She attend highschool there and graduated in 1968.Shirley attended Northeastern Oklahoma State College where she majored in vocal music. Her love for medicine continued to have a strong pull on her heart, she decided to drop out of the music program and transferred to a nursing program.Shirley attended the University Arkansas Fort Smith, Ark. where she graduatuated from the nursing program in May 1973.Shirley has worked in almost every area of the hospital, but her main love was Critical Care, Labor & Delivery, Emergency/Trauma, yes, she certainly was an adrenalin junkie.

Shirley is married to Brad Fisher. She has four beautiful children, a son, Bobby, three daughters, Kendra, Kathlene, and Stephanie. Stephanie is Shirley and Brad's "midlife" joy, she is 17 and just graduated high school this past May. Shirley has 11 beautiful grandchildren.

During her carreer as a RN she also had the priveldge of serving in the military. She served in the Medical Corps during Operation Desert Shield/Storm in Saudia Araba. During this tour she was sent with an advanced medical group and connected with the 3rd Armour Division when they invaded Iraq.Upon returning home, had the priviledge of being asked to go on a medical/dental mission trip to Azua, Deminicon Republic.Brad and Shirley had prayed about adoption and the Lord answered their prayers with their precious baby girl, Stephanie. Stephanie was a drug baby, the case worker tried to get them to not take her, Shirley told them it was the baby God had sent them and this is the baby they would take. Stephanie graduated with honors in May and will be attending College in August. GOD IS GOOD!!! Shirley loves riding her Harley with her husband, it gives her a chance to clear her head and have just "me time" with God. Shirley has worked as a substitue teacher for the past 6 years and loves watching all her "kids" grow up. She plans on substiting for a long time. Her "kids" think she is the coolest because she rides her Harley to work when the weather permits. The most important thing in Shirley's life is her love for God and His Word. It has been her foundation through good and tuff times.
