MS FLORIDA SENIOR AMERICA 2017,
DR. LORRAINE ROBERTSON

Ms. Florida, Dr. Lorraine Robertson CONGRATULATIONS to DR. LORRAINE ROBERTSON, Ms Florida Senior America 2017, and to Rose Tydus, Florida State Administrator, for a terrific State Queen!

Dr. Lorraine Robertson is a resident of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, mother of two sons and grandmother of five.

Dr. Robertson is a retired Board Certified Family Practice Physician who also had a subspecialty in Addiction Medicine and worked in that field for many years. While actively practicing she also donated time each month to offer medical care in the Dover Free Clinic, in Dover, NJ to indigent people and also gave pro bono treatment to uninsured addict patients.

In retirement Dr. Robertson has started a second career in Art and her works hang in numerous private and corporate collections and in several galleries. Many are displayed on her web site at www.LorraineRobertsonFineArt.com. She is also a serious student of the piano and loves to play two piano music with friends. Recently she took up Bridge and very much enjoys playing duplicate bridge at several clubs in Sarasota.

Dr. Robertson and her late husband were also serious ballroom dancers and danced six times in the National Championships. After her husband developed some health problems and the competitive dancing became too exertive, they segued into community theatre and appeared in 13 musical shows, for which several Dr. Robertson did the choreography. In her 70’s Dr. Robertson took up the flute and played with the Gulf Coast Flute Choir for several years. She is also a member of the Meadows Chorus and has sang with them for 14 years.

Dr. Robertson says that even at 82 years of age, it isn’t over till it’s over and looks forward to and is excited about each coming day. She says she falls asleep every night thinking about all the wonderful things she has to look forward to being involved in the coming day. She is living proof that there is a life after retirement from one’s work and that this can be a wonderfully rewarding and exciting time of life. The State of Florida is proud to have her represent us at the Ms. Senior America Pageant to take place October 15 to 20 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
