DEBORAH WILLIAMS

Ms. Tennessee, Deborah Williams Deborah Williams is the current Ms Tennessee Senior America and resides in Mt. Juliet.

She received an Associate Degree in Radiological Technology from Norfolk General Hospital in 1972. After working in her field for several years, Deborah moved to New York City to study voice and acting, and to work in the entertainment business. Over the past 40 years, she has performed internationally opening and co-billing with stars such as Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, and David Brenner. She also performed in theatres in New York City, Virginia, Los Angeles, Kentucky, and Tennessee, and she has appeared in various regional and national television commercials. Deborah has also been a performing arts consultant and voice coach for teens in the entertainment business.

Deborah is a board member of Cedar Creek Church by the Lake and a member of St Stephens Catholic Community. She is a volunteer for the Wounded Warrior Project, the Vietnam Veterans of America, and she has completed the Assist Program for the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network. She is president of Music for the Future Publishing Co. and also volunteers as a singer for various functions and at Cedar Creek Church.

Future plans include the Crisis Hotline certification, and the creation of the “Be Happy Festival” in conjunction with the Justin Williams Foundation, of which she is president.

Deborah spends much of her time with her husband of 38 years, Robert, and her children. She encourages and supports her 5 grandchildren in many activities and is a “dance grandma," a driver, and a “cheerleader” for lessons and competitions.

Deborah is a fan of the arts, enjoys exercising, swimming, performing, and dining.

In May of 2014, Deborah fulfilled a lifelong dream and walked with her graduating class at Cumberland University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in theatre, Magna Cum Laude. She was awarded the Outstanding Theatre Performance Award, and she is a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, and she was awarded membership in Who's Who of Students in American Colleges and Universities.
