MS DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA SENIOR AMERICA 2017, FRANCES "FRAN" CURTIS JOHNSON
CONGRATULATIONS to FRANCES "FRAN" CURTIS JOHNSON, Ms District of Columbia Senior America 2017 and the wonderful Ms. Senior D.C. Pageant team for a fabulous Queen!
Frances (Fran) Curtis Johnson is a third generation native Washingtonian and the fifth of ten children. Fran graduated from St. Cecilia's Academy, followed by Washington, DC's first land-grant college, The Washington Technical Institute, and graduated earning her degree with academic honors.
In 1970, Fran was hired by "Big Blue" - International Business Machines Corporation (lBM) and retired with thirty years of service. ln 1992, Fran served under the Clinton Administration as a "Confidential Assistant to the Special Assistant to the President" for two consecutive terms. Fran continues to exercise her professional skills and is currently employed with "Business Executives for National Security."
Fran is Vice President and Operating Director of Shammah, Inc., a non-profit organization founded by her husband, George, to help the down-trodden and disadvantaged. She has a strong compassion for ordinary people and a heart for justice for the mistreated.
As a sports enthusiast, Fran ran "track & field" with IBM's "Corporate Cup Relays and holds a few medals as a sprinter competing in the 100, 200, 400 and 800 meter runs. She loves the art of music and believes "good" music is "good" for the soul. Fran has a keen eye for design and enjoys gardening, traveling and most of all, the fellowship of her large, supporting, loving God-given family!
She is an active community spokesperson, exhibiting charisma and enthusiasm, while holding a strong and firm knowledge and tenacity for keeping the playing field level and equal for all community residents.
Fran and her husband recently published "The Second Talk" - an easy to read book which discusses life saving tips for everyone of driving age.
Fran is married to her college sweetheart, George R. Johnson, Sr. celebrating 40 years of marriage with three beautiful children, George, Jr., R. Jamaal and Dionne and blessed with six grandchildren.
